Historic Fishing Hotel

The Cammarch was built in the mid 1800’s by the Heart of Wales Railway and was a famous fishing hotel. It’s said that our own Prince of Wales used to come and fish its rivers with his cousin Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Spa
Town
Llangammarch Wells itself is steeped in history, and was an extremely popular destination for people who wanted to partake of the Barium Waters to be found in the village.  Barium waters could only be found in Llangammarch Wells and Baden Baden in Germany.  See the old tourist guide promoting the restorative affects of the waters and the calm and tranquillity of the surrounding area.  Llangammarch was also a famous equestrian village and was host to many horse auctions and indeed it is said that it was the location for the last wife auction in Wales.

Nowadays we pride ourselves in providing you with quality guest accommodation, delicious home-cooked meals, good wines from our extensive wine cellar and real ales.

Our 11 tastefully furnished en-suite bedrooms and suites can convert from doubles to twins to provide greater flexibility. We can add travel cots and zed beds for children so we can accommodate different types of bookings for up to 26 people.  Guests also have free access to Wifi and we have an extensive Tourist Information Point on the second floor with all the activities and places to see and visit within easy reach of The Cammarch.

The garden is a magical place, especially for children, with the river running around the edge it’s perfect for a paddle or to fish from our own small beach found under the spreading chestnut tree.  For the serious fisher we do have about 4 miles of fishing rights on the river Irfon where you can fish for Brown Trout, Atlantic Salmon, Chub and Grayling.  For the more energetic guests, we have boules and croquet and there are some scenic walks around the guest house.

The natural beauty of the surroundings makes it the ideal place for activity based breaks, whether you enjoy walking, fishing, cycling, bird watching, pony trekking, golfing or car and bike rallying.  All these activities are available in the immediate vicinity of The Cammarch and we will be only too pleased to help you arrange a special day out.
